Hair TransplantsYou have decided on hair transplantation and now you are looking for a qualified surgeon. Since your decision will remain with you for the rest of your life, it is improtant to make the correct choice. Before making your final selection, consider the following important questions. |
|
|
| |
 |
In the past, the results were unnatural, costly and complicated. In the most recent 20 years, balding men have begun to enjoy the revolutionary advancements in the field of hair restoration. Dr. Meshkin has been at the forefront of these advances, pioneering the development of the innovative Nokor Microslit Grafting technique, which has been broadly described and accepted in authoritative medical journals and textbooks.
The technique was first introduced in 1989 and presented at the hair transplant seminars around the country. It was officially published at the journal of dermatology and

oncology in 1994, the book or innovations and complications in cosmetic surgery in 1995, the hair transplant surgery text book by Dr. Dow Stough in 1996 and it was used as a reference at the hair transplant text book by Dr.Walt Unger in 2004. Dr. Meshkins’ technique offered physicians tremendous flexibility in the field of hair restoration surgery and contributed to the most recent microslit grafting technique.
Today’s’ new advance Ultra Refined Follicular Unit hair transplant allows for the ultimate in fullness and naturalness in one surgery mega session. We have all seen the plugy hair transplant of the past. But we don’t see today’s state of the art hair transplants because they go unnoticed. The transformation was from Plugs to micrografts to ultra refine grafts. Surgical hair restoration has dramatically evolved from big round “plug” grafts in the 60’s , minigrafts of 80’s to micrografts of 90 s and to modern hair transplant procedures using entirely follicular unit grafts.

Ultra refined grafting is achieved by using the microscope to make grafts and therefore making smaller incisions. Dr. Meshkin performs microscopic Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation, which involves using high powered surgical microscopes to divide the donor strip into its natural hair growth units. Today’s micro surgical blades and also the size of hair grafts have become smaller and now enable an experienced hair transplant surgeon to safely make more tiny graft incisions in any given area than ever before. Dr. Meshkin has been able to “dense pack” select areas using as many as 60-80 unit grafts per square centimeter. |
This graft density is twice as much as that of the standard follicular unit hair transplant procedure. Such high densities of transplanted hair typically produce the appearance of fullness even after only one surgical session. Patients also experience rapid healing and no visible skin distortions due to the tiny size of these incisions. The many patient benefits of this new procedure are significant and include: |
- the ability to get excellent hair density in only one surgical session,
- minimal trauma in the graft recipient area with rapid post surgical healing,
- little or no visible pitting or distortions in the transplanted areas,
- and more natural direction and angulations of the transplanted hair.
Ultra Refined Microscopic follicular unit grafting raises the bar for physicians and their staff. This delicate and demanding hair transplant procedure requires more skill and careful attention to be performed properly. The smaller and more tightly packed incisions require more closely dissected follicular unit grafts that are carefully trimmed under microscopes. These Follicular units are cut under the microscope into their natural state of one two or three hairs, and then placed into very small incisions using the lateral slit technique.

Another very important transformation is the size and the angulations of the incisions in the recipient area. By using very small needles and making the incisions parallel to the scalp, Dr. Meshkin is able to densely pack the area and provide for very natural cosmetic results. These small and densely packed incisions are also more difficult to place the grafts into. For these reasons, this procedure requires more careful selection of the doctor and the staff. When choosing a doctor, a person should consider a doctor who has been in the hair transplant industry for a long time, who has been a pioneer and leader in the constant pursuit of developing new technology and surgical techniques.
Just as important are the clinics surgical staffs that have been with the doctor for a long time and have highly developed surgical skills and qualifications to perform hair transplants. In the hands of a highly skilled physician and staff the Ultra Refined Microscopic Follicular Unit hair transplant procedure using the lateral slit incisions can achieve excellent new hair growth that is so natural that it is undetectable even under close scrutiny.

Now hair restoration is going through another very important evolution and that is improving both the naturalness and fullness that can be achieved from only one surgical hair transplant session. Dr. Mehskin combines the Ultra Refined Microscopic Follicular Unit transplantation with the trichophytic closure technique to get the best result for the benefit of his patients. The trichophytic closure allows a skilled physician to harvest more donor hair without causing any scar formation. Dr. Meshkin uses the latest Double Layer Trichophytic technique for the donor area closure, which makes the scar line virtually invisible after

healing. By taking more donor hair, Dr. Meshkin is able to do megasessions of greater than 3000 grafts per session. This provides the opportunity to achieve a highly dense and natural result in only one hair transplant session.

skills and qualifications. Dr. Meshkin has been practicing hair restoration exclusively for the past twenty years. He is commited to staying active in this field through ongoing education and incorporating the latest advances into his practice. He believes strongly that his clients deserve his personal attention and care, not a consultant or another doctor in his place. Each treatment is customized to the patients needs and concerns. He presents his clients with all the viable treatment options, including nonsurgical therapies, such as medical treatment and laser, if appropiate and offers hair transplant consultations free of charge.
On the day of the surgery, he spends the first hour reviewing the procedure with his clients and designs a customized treatment plan. He measures the donor area with a densometer and evaluates the hair quality and texture, he then design the recipient area. He performs Microscopic Follicualr Unit Hair Transplantation which involves using high powered surgical microscopes to divide the donor strip into its natural hair growth units. He uses the latest Double Layered Trichophytic for the donor area closure, which makes the scar line virtually invisible after healing. He prides himself in participating in the entire surgery.
He is the innovator of the Nokor Microslit grafting which aided in the development of dense packing and megasession procedures. He has published many articles in the Journal of Dermatological Surgery, the Journal of Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and the Hair Transplant Text book. He is regularly invited to lecture on hair transplant surgery at highly recognized symposiums, teaching seminars and many international Televisions and radio stations in the U.S. and abroad.
